Fathers Day 17/06/2007

This is a weekend worthy of blogging.
Yesterday, Saturday was the annual men's fellowship day out. Twelve of us went north to meet an old friend who lives out in the country. The agenda for the day was a barbeque and then quad biking. As the age range was 16- mid eighties I ended up not only going solo but getting a lot of extra turns on the quads giving piggy back rides to those who were less confident on the 400 cc machines. It was a complete blast.

Today was fathers day in Scotland and it was not only my first father's day but I travelled to Glasgow and spent some of the day with my dad. This is the first time in over 20 years that I spent time with him on fathers day. After visiting my dad, we went to Wemyss Bay to see the father in law. That was the first time in over a decade the missus had spent with her father on that day. Here I am below with my son Somerled aka Sorley to one and all.

As we were so busy we missed church today; now I need to set some time apart to spend with my Father in heaven. As I do so I am going to meditate on the parable of the prodigal son and how the father in this parable represents God in His fatherhood to me. At last I am complete as a father and can consider the fuller meaning of it with my new perspective.
